Your Questions Answered Simply

When should I claim Social Security?

There's no single right age. Claiming early gives you smaller checks for longer; waiting gives you bigger checks for life. The best choice depends on your health, your spouse, your other income and your goals, which is exactly what we map out with you.

Can I collect on my spouse's record?

Often, yes. A spouse may receive up to 50% of the other spouse's full benefit, and a surviving spouse may receive up to 100%. If you were married at least 10 years, you may also qualify on an ex-spouse's record.

What if I keep working?

If you claim before full retirement age and keep working, part of your benefit may be withheld if your earnings go over the annual limit. It isn't lost forever, but it changes the math, so plan before you file.

Are Social Security benefits taxed?

Depending on your total income, up to 85% of your benefits can be taxable. Smart planning with your savings and withdrawals can help keep more in your pocket.

I'm already collecting. Is it too late?

Not always. Depending on your situation there may still be options for you or your spouse, and survivor planning matters at every age.

Is this really free? Do you work for Social Security?

Yes, the review is free with no obligation. Prospirion is an independent firm, not the Social Security Administration. Social Security determines your actual benefits.
